We are very glad to announce that the much anticipated Trends Dashboard is now LIVE. Hop over to the Trends section inside the Business Manager console to see how it works. But for new customers considering using CovidTracing.co.nz for contact tracing, here’s a glimpse of what the Trends dashboard is all about.
According to the Ministry of Health, the QR code issued by the government can only be used via the Government’s APP. If the customer does not have the APP and the business owner does not use an alternative option such as CovidTracing.co.nz, then the customer will need to be turned away. Non-compliance carries risk of enforcement from the government.
The Ministry of Health along with the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment (MBIE) are taking applications from businesses across New Zealand to register for the QR code generated for use with the NZ Covid Tracer app. Because ours is an app-less solution, we have integrated the Government’s QR Code with our system.
Yesterday, we sent a tweet to the Ministry of Health and MBIE, questioning the lack of open standards for other app vendors to integrate with
CovidTracing.co.nz has developed a workaround for businesses and customers that do not want to use the Government’s Covid Tracer App.
Contact tracing is important. We are (currently) the most advanced contact tracing system that does not rely on an app being installed on anyone’s phone. In fact, we are quite vehemently against the entire mobile app based solution for contact tracing. It is not right. It is a perfect example of “the fact that something can be done, doesn’t mean it should be done”.
Businesses and customers must be given a choice to not have to download the app but at the same time, still be able to participate in health and safety. Downloading a mobile app isn’t the only way to contact trace. However, the government has deliberately taken this approach to create an environment of “untold enforcement”, not giving people any choice. We are changing that.
So… here’s what we are doing.
Unlike some of the other countries in the world, trust in the government is not at the same level where everyone will want to download the app right away. In doing so, the Government has also, rather carelessly, tried to eliminate the market for commercial services such as ours. While any remarks about this are bound to fall on deaf ears, it is important that people considering this app understand the deliberate and anti-competitive action taken by the Ministry of Health today.

This means that your customers have a choice. They can either check-in to your business using the invasive mobile app or use our non-invasive system to register securely without the need to use any apps or additional software.
On the 4th of June, 2020, Director General of Health, Dr. Ashley Bloomfield confirmed that contact tracing will continue to remain a “REQUIREMENT” for businesses.
Just like it has been during Level 2, non-compliance can lead to enforcement if the business is not actively conducting contact tracing.
The New Zealand Government’s NZ COVID TRACER app is proving to be unpopular with daily registrations dropping consistently to just a few thousand a day.
Give your customers a choice. Use our contact less, app-less contact tracing solution and make it easier for your customers as well as your own business.
